FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (13-15, 2-7 SSC) will travel to Miami Shores, Fla. this weekend to take on the Barry Buccaneers (16-10, 4-2 SSC) in a conference series, beginning Friday, March 15, with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
The Sharks will look to get back on track after a week away from the diamond, where they dropped two out of three to the Eckerd Tritons last weekend at the AD Griffin Sports Complex.
The Sharks' season has turned around after their hot start, when the team won seven of its first eight games, including a second-place finish in a 15-team field at the Eckerd College Spring Invitational. Since that point, the Sharks have posted a 6-14 record.
Barry enters this weekend’s showdown against the Sharks having played in two conference series. Saint Leo took two of three from the Bucs earlier in the month, and most recently, Barry swept Florida Southern last weekend. Earlier this week, the Bucs split a doubleheader against No. 15 Molloy, losing 3-0 and then winning the second game, 2-0.
The Sharks will look to change their recent trend against Barry, having been swept by the Bucs the last two seasons. The last time the Sharks beat Barry was in 2009, when NSU took two of three from their SSC foes. The Bucs currently hold a 38-10 record all-time against the Sharks.
